Microsoft Innoviative Teacher Award

2010 and 2011

Project Going Green

I was recently nominated by the Department of Education to represent the Eastern Cape at the Microsoft Innovative Teachers’ Forum during August 2010 and 2011 in Johannesburg, and was chosen as one of 20 finalists for this award. Sponsors for this event were Microsoft, Schoolnet and Microsoft Partners in Learning.  I was nominated for my project "Going Green" in which I used Microsoft LCDS software to create an interactive lesson that encourages Primary School learners to recycle more.  Activities included watching a video, building a puzzle, playing a tile game, interaction in an adventure activity, reading information and answering questions. This project testifies to my ability to develop material within the fields of education, ICT and other related areas. It is my passionate belief that the use of technology in education changes lives, families, communities and ultimately, nations. The empowerment of students and teachers to reach their full potential is a top priority for me, and an area in which I show great potential.
